"I think the idea of having a partner that's continuously upgrading and improving the user experience, the product and the data—that's what we're looking for. That's what we have with Envysion."
“We’ve realized a sustained and predictable profit impact from Envysion over the last seven years and we are continually finding new ways to use video to improve our restaurants’ performance” says Tim Spong, Chipotle’s director of safety, security and risk At Chipotle. In fact, the restaurant chain’s profit margins are among the highest in the industry, despite managing 50,000 employees across over 1,750 locations.
Chipotle has built its reputation for being an innovative leader in their industry by using high-quality ingredients grown and raised with respect for the animals, land and farmers who produce the food. Given Chipotle’s consistently unique approach to everything they do, it’s no surprise that Tim Spong, took an innovative path when it came to updating their existing in-store video solution to enable true video-driven business intelligence.
Starting in 2007, Chipotle engaged Envysion to deploy a highly scalable, centrally managed and bandwidth-intelligent video solution to all of its locations which gained the ability to grant and control access to hundreds of users throughout the company. Chipotle also worked with Envysion to achieve point of sale integration that enables every transaction and sale to “come to life” with targeted exception reports which gains transparency into cash handling and transactions.
“Because it's so easy to use, every department at Chipotle including HR, legal, facilities, marketing and finance uses Envysion for various projects."
Chipotle didn’t stop there. They wanted to see the impact in every aspect of the customer experience. “Because it's so easy to use, every department at Chipotle including HR, legal, facilities, marketing and finance uses Envysion for various projects. Even our CEO uses Envysion,” says Spong. “We use it for everything from responding to customer incidents, customer complaints, and so forth.”
In fact, managers can now review store maintenance and daily prep activities across multiple stores without leaving their office. Employee theft has been greatly minimized, and profits are up due both improved risk management and more efficient processes and operations.
Of course, neither Chipotle nor Envysion are ever happy with what might seem by most measures to be good enough. Envysion continues to push the limits of video-driven business intelligence. Spong said it best when he stated that, “I think the idea of having a partner that's continuously upgrading and improving the user experience, the product and the data—that's what we're looking for and that’s what we have with Envysion."
